On 25 October Meridian Brass will perform a rendition of ‘…I want to know about the lull in the storm’ at The Drill Hall on the Isle of Portland near Weymouth. The concert will be the third in the Sonic Coast concert series, which is curated by Diva Contemporary’s Marc Yeats as part of Sound and Music’s Composer-Curator scheme.
This promises to be a great, diverse concert set in the beautiful landscape of the Dorset coast. I highly recommend checking out the other composers involved, the work of the ensemble and the rest of the concert series. The programme will be as follows:
Antonis Anestis: Collage (world premiere)
Litha and Effy Efthymiou: Parting (1)
Adolphus Hailstork: Bagatelles for Brass (1)
Richard Stanbrook: O.C.D. for brass quartet (world premiere)
Ken Davies: Amplitudes
Stephen Montague: Uncaged
Adam Fergler: ‘…I want to know about the lull in the storm’
Marc Yeats: Through woods in riot [for brass quartet] (world premiere)
Tickets are available to buy for £5 up until 23 October (email firstname.lastname@example.org). Thereafter you’ll have to wait until the day of the performance when the price will be £7 on the door. Students and under-16s can get in for free.
If you can’t make it down to the south coast – and what more excuse do you need than a dramatic landscape and first-lass music-making – you can watch a live-stream here.
It looks like it’ll be an interesting crowd already so do come along and join in the fun!
